About Stephanie L. Baer, MD
Stephanie L. Baer, M.D. is the Chief of Infection Control and Epidemiology at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Augusta University, Augusta, Georgia. Originally from Greenville, SC, she graduated from the University of South Carolina and earned her medical degree from Medical University of South Carolina. She then completed residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Baer's research interests include the epidemiology of infections in Veterans and in dialysis patients. She is co-chair of the AU Department of Medicine Translational Research Program and she is vice chair to the AU IRB-A. She has been named a Fellow of the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation and is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Southern Section of the American Federation for Medical Research. She is also a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.
