About Buddhadeb Dawn, MD
Buddhadeb Dawn, MD, is the inaugural Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Medicine. He is also the Chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. He received his medical degree from Calcutta Medical College, India, and underwent Cardiology training at the same institution. In the USA, he completed residency in Medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and completed fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Louisville. Before moving to UNLV in July 2018, he was the Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases, the founding Director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute, and the founding Director of the Midwest Stem Cell Therapy Center at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is a practicing clinical cardiologist and physician-scientist with research interests focused primarily on heart repair by adult stem cells. He has authored over 180 articles and book chapters. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health for many years. He serves on several national scientific committees, grant review panels, and Editorial Boards of prominent cardiovascular journals. His clinical interests include echocardiography and atrial fibrillation.
