About Efrain Reisin, MD
Dr. Efrain Reisin graduated at the University of Cordoba, Argentina and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in nephrology at the Tel Hashomer Hospital affiliated to the Tel Aviv University in Israel. He joined the faculty of LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1982. Since 1989 Dr Reisin is a Professor of Medicine and since 1999 serves as Chief of the Section of Nephrology and Hypertension at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans.
Dr. Reisin maintains an active funded clinical and basic research program in hypertension and kidney diseases. His major research interest is to study the functional and structural damages caused by obesity diabetes and hypertension in the kidney. He is the author of more than 150 scientific original and review articles and book chapters and in 2010 he was the recipient of the Tinsley Harrison Award by The American Journal of the Medical Sciences. He sits on the Editorial Board of the JASH and is a section editor of Current Hypertension Reports. Since 2010 he is the Chairman of the American Society of Nephrology Hypertension Advisory Group. With a longstanding commitment to the SSCI, he has served for many years on the Editorial Board of The AJMS.
