    About Benjamin D. Cowley, Jr., MD

    Benjamin D. Cowley, Jr., MD attended undergraduate school at Rice University and received his MD degree from Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Cowley completed post-graduate education in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Biochemistry at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He subsequently trained at the National Institutes of Health from 1987 to 1989 and then joined the faculty at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In 2002, he moved to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), where he is Chief of Nephrology & Hypertension, OU Regents' Professor, and John Gammill Professor in Polycystic Kidney Disease.

    Dr. Cowley is former Chair of the Board of Trustees of the PKD Foundation and is former Chair of the PKD Foundation's Scientific Advisory Committee. Dr. Cowley has been involved in PKD research for more than 20 years, publishing numerous articles and presenting on PKD at various conferences and events. Dr. Cowley is also the UNOS-designated Physician for the kidney and pancreas transplant programs at OUHSC. He serves on the Board of Directors for Lifeshare, the Oklahoma Organ Procurement Organization, and previous served as Chair of the Board. Dr. Cowley has been named one of Oklahoma's "Top Doctors" by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. for over 10 years.
