Welcome to the SSCI

The American Journal of the Medical SciencesWelcome to the website of the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation (SSCI). As stated in its mission and vision statements, the SSCI is a regional academic society dedicated to the advancement of medically-related research. Its major focus, however, is on encouraging students and post-graduate trainees (residents and fellows) to enter academic medicine and to support junior faculty success in clinical investigation. The SSCI is committed to diversity and inclusion in our organization as stated in our Diversity and Inclusion Statement.

This mission is accomplished through sponsorship of the Southern Regional Meeting and publication of The American Journal of the Medical Sciences. Both venues are committed to helping young investigators, providing them with avenues for scientific expression that is the essence of academic medicine.

The AJMS, founded in 1820, is the second oldest medical journal in the United States, and is the official journal of the SSCI.

Important Notice Regarding SRM 2022

As Presidents of the SSCI, SSPR and Chair of the SAFMR, we would like to inform you that SRM 2022 will proceed as a hybrid in-person meeting with virtual options for most, but not all, activities and sessions. . In consideration of the safety of our attendees, vaccine verification or a negative COVID test (within 72 hours of arrival) will be required, as will masks while in meetings. Maximal measures are being taken with the hotel to ensure social distancing. We have also made some changes to exclude large meal gatherings.

While we hope to see most of you in person, for those who are unable, the plenaries, concurrent sessions, and workshops will be offered virtually. We are currently hard at work on revising the program and finalizing the virtual piece. We will circulate the revised program and share the details surrounding the virtual option as they become available.

Please note that the poster session will not be offered as a virtual option. Poster presenters who cannot attend in person may send their posters with a colleague, or ship it to the hotel, and our staff will be glad to mount it for you. Posters without in-person presenters should have email address on the posters with the presenters available during the session so that queries can hopefully be answered in real-time.

All attendees and presenters will be required to register for the meeting whether they attend in-person or virtually. If you have not registered, please do so at your earliest convenience at https://ww2.highmarksce.com/tulane/index.cfm?do=pln.viewActivity&plannerID=1445.

If you have not made your hotel reservations, the reduced group rate is available until January 25. Reservations can be made at https://book.passkey.com/e/50207353

As more information is available, it will be distributed. Specific instructions to both oral and poster presenters will be sent in the near future.

We are looking forward to a very successful SRM 2022 and appreciate your support and attendance.
